Why do COVID-19 mandates still persist despite unprecedented harm? We cannot forget the mandates or the lasting damage they caused—it’s vital we remember and learn.
Nearly three years ago, on September 9, 2021, President Biden issued executive orders mandating COVID-19 vaccinations for all federal employees, impacting around 100 million Americans.
Fast-forward to today, and despite mounting evidence that the COVID-19 vaccine mandates caused more harm than good, many of these mandates remain in place. Universities, healthcare systems, and even entire countries continue to enforce restrictions that have proven ineffective, if not outright dangerous.
As we mark the anniversary of one of the most blatant assaults on personal freedom, we’re making sure the COVID-19 mandates aren’t quietly forgotten. We’re here to ask the tough questions that people still demand answers to—and we won’t let those responsible escape accountability.
For honest medicine to prevail, we can’t let them memory-hole the mandates! Instead, we need to shine a glaring spotlight on those mandates that still persist. With our collective knowledge and vigilance, we can prevent a calamity of this scale from ever happening again.
Why Are COVID-19 Vaccine Mandates Still in Effect?
Mask mandates, lockdowns, vaccines—it didn’t stop there. Social distancing, quarantines, and isolation requirements also reshaped daily life. If you were fortunate, you might have escaped the grip of vaccine passports. The sweeping mandates affected everyone, from federal contractors and healthcare workers to the military, as FLCCC Senior Fellow Dr. Kat Lindley reminds us:

The COVID “vaccines” have been shown harmful in autopsy reports, dangerous to pregnant women, and catastrophic for children’s heart health. Numerous calls have been made to drop COVID-19 vaccine requirements and remove them from use permanently.
The question we should all be asking is simple: Why are these mandates still in effect?
Across the globe, we continue to see forced COVID-19 vaccination, despite the undeniable lack of efficacy and significant risks tied to these experimental mRNA vaccines. The CDC, FDA, and other public health bodies continue to recommend vaccinations for all, pushing these policies based on outdated or incomplete data.
These mandates were built on the premise that they would slow the spread of COVID-19 and prevent severe illness. Yet, as we look at the damage left in their wake, it’s clear they failed. The mandates didn’t just fail to curb the pandemic—they actively harmed people, psychologically, physically, and socially.
Mental Health Crisis: The global suicide rate, particularly among young people, skyrocketed during the lockdowns. Depression and anxiety rates also surged during the pandemic. According to the CDC, symptoms of anxiety and depression increased by 25% globally in the first year of the pandemic.
Drop in Life Expectancy: In the United States, life expectancy fell by nearly 2.7 years from 2019 to 2021, a drop largely attributed to the pandemic and the consequences of the mandates. This is one of the largest life expectancy drops seen in modern history.
Increased All-Cause Mortality: Several studies have linked the COVID-19 vaccine mandates with increased all-cause mortality, particularly among younger populations, as adverse events related to the vaccines contributed to rising deaths in otherwise healthy individuals.
Economic Devastation: The extended lockdowns and business restrictions led to massive job losses and economic hardships for millions of families across the world.
Public Distrust and Polarization: The mandates contributed to unprecedented social division, with those refusing the vaccine or masks being ostracized and even criminalized in some regions.
The Most Egregious Mandates Still in Effect
While many countries and institutions have eased their COVID-19 mandates, several egregious examples continue to affect key groups. Below are the most persistent and controversial mandates still in place worldwide:
Childhood Vaccine Mandates
In Brazil, despite minimal risk to children from severe COVID-19, they have enforced a mandate requiring all children to be vaccinated in order to access essential services like education and public healthcare.
Though not a strict requirement, and not enforced uniformly across the country, low-income families that benefit from the country’s “Bolsa Família” welfare program would only be paid out if children have received the required vaccines.
In other words, if you are wealthy enough, you can avoid taking these dangerous injections. Brazil is one of the few countries that continues to uphold a stringent vaccination requirements for children.
Healthcare Worker Mandates
In several countries, healthcare worker COVID-19 vaccination mandates remain in effect. In France and Italy, healthcare workers are still required to be vaccinated, with both governments justifying the policies as necessary to protect vulnerable populations, particularly in hospitals and care homes, despite growing opposition. In Austria, healthcare workers are also required to maintain their vaccination status, even as the overall threat of the virus has receded. In Canada, the mandates for healthcare workers were only finally lifted in July 2024, when out-of-touch health authorities in the province of British Columbia declared the COVID emergency was over.
University Student Mandates
According to No College Mandates, at least 20 U.S. universities still enforce COVID-19 vaccine mandates for their students, especially those in healthcare fields. Students are often required to receive booster doses to continue their education, with little regard for their low risk of severe illness from the virus.

Did The Mandates Work (and Have They Ever Worked)?
If the COVID-19 vaccine mandates were designed to slow the spread of COVID-19 and protect public health, did they actually work? The short answer is no. Studies have shown that vaccinated individuals can still contract and transmit the virus, undermining the entire rationale behind vaccine mandates. Furthermore, the harms caused by the vaccine, particularly in young people, have been well-documented, leading to widespread opposition to these mandates.
The CDC continues to recommend vaccination, even as evidence mounts that the COVID-19 vaccines are linked to unprecedented side effects and have contributed to a decline in global life expectancy.
It’s not like lockdowns or mandates have ever worked in the way they’ve been promised. Mandates alone, whether for masks, vaccines, or lockdowns, rarely work. They often breed resentment and defiance rather than compliance. From the 1918 flu pandemic to today, we’ve seen that heavy-handed public health policies don’t create the desired results unless the intervention is rock-solid in its efficacy (Ivermectin comes to mind).
In the case of COVID-19, not only did the mandates fail to stop the virus, but they also caused significant harm, with rising reports of side effects and mental health crises. The data speaks for itself: these mandates were more harmful than helpful.
How Did COVID-19 Mandates Impact You?
COVID-19 mandates have impacted people from all walks of life—parents, business owners, healthcare workers, and individuals trying to visit loved ones. We asked our audience on X.com to share how the mandates impacted them.

Here are just a few of their stories:
Parents and Families
The mandates impacted families far and wide, as one user shared:
“I pulled my son and daughter out of public school and into a small Christian academy, which ended up being a blessing in disguise. My son was becoming very depressed and withdrawn learning remotely. Also, I did extensive research on the vaccine and did not participate in the experiment. We soon became the ‘unvaccinated’—a threat to family and society. We weren’t allowed to travel by plane, so we drove. Our business became a shelter for unvaccinated employees who were outcast and segregated. What a time to be alive.”
Healthcare Access
For many, visiting loved ones came at a high personal cost. One FLCCC supporter recalled:
“In order for me to cross state lines to see my 96-year-old mother with cognitive decline, I had to submit to Moderna mRNA. Biggest regret of my life. Shortly after arriving home after the first injection, my arm swelled up dramatically, and that was only the beginning.”
Social Isolation and Bullying
The mandates also created a deep sense of isolation for many:
“I was bullied for not taking it & not masking right away. Staff throughout our building were terrified of me. They treated me like I was insane for thinking I could make the decision not to take an experimental gene therapy. I was isolated from everyone.”
Religious Exemptions
Some individuals tried to resist the mandates by seeking exemptions. One healthcare worker shared:
“Back office in healthcare, mandated whether or not we saw patients. I filed a religious exemption, and it was honored. So close…”
Others Were Not So Lucky:
“I lost my job when the hospital only accepted religious exemptions for employees they had no record of having a vaccine. They violated our religious freedom.”
Loss and Betrayal
For others, the emotional toll of watching loved ones comply with the mandates has been overwhelming:
“It was hell on earth. Even though I personally wasn’t pressured, I couldn’t save close family members and now worry they’ll drop dead. The sense of profound betrayal hasn’t left me, and I parted ways with most friends. They’re hypnotized to dangerous nonsense.”
Rejecting Mandates and Moving Forward
It is long past time to reassess the use of COVID-19 mandates. From the start, these policies lacked a solid scientific foundation. As evidence has mounted, it’s clear that mandates—whether for vaccines, masks, or lockdowns—have not only failed in their objectives but have also caused significant harm. These measures have deepened societal divides, damaged public trust, and eroded personal freedoms. The ripple effects include widespread mental health crises, economic devastation, and a profound sense of public distrust.
Moving forward, we must advocate for public health policies rooted in real science, not fear or coercion. Restoring personal freedoms and rebuilding public trust is crucial for the future of health policy. Coercive measures like mandates have shown themselves to be unsustainable and ineffective. It’s time to reject them and embrace transparent, evidence-based approaches that prioritize the well-being of individuals and communities.
If you want to go deeper into the consequences of mandates and learn more about the stories of those directly impacted, the upcoming film Vaxxed III: Authorized to Kill reveals the real-world toll of these policies. This documentary uncovers powerful firsthand accounts of vaccine injuries and the broader harms caused by these measures. You can’t afford to miss it.
